Cards to Share FINALLY!

I have been missing from blog land for a very, very long time. Our son became very sick last November and was hospitalized for several months. It was a very stressful time for me and not only did I not have the time for anything crafty I just didn't have any desire to create.

But thanks for the power of prayer from all of our family and friends our son is out of the hospital and is back at work and is much better.

I now have found a bit of creative mojo  and started making a few cards last month.
The first card is the one I made for my Dad for Father's Day.
My Dad's birthday was also in June and I forgot to take a photo of it before I mailed it, oops!

I also had a June graduation and when I saw this card I knew I had to make a similar one:
It is such a clever idea don't you think? So I changed the color to blue and added some bling. It was fun and easy to make! I found the card on Pinterest. Go here to Two Paper Divas to find out how to make one for yourself:
Here is a look at the inside:

I thought it was so clever to fold the money so it became 2015. I stamped the hat then hand cut it out to glue onto the owls head.
This last card I just made today:
I have always admired the sunburst look but never knew how it was done. Well again I was on Pinterest and found a great tutorial video from Dawn Olchefske. I was so eager to try it out that I sat down right away to try it out. With Dawn's directions it was very simple to do and a great way to use up some scraps too.
This is just a close up so you can see the texture of the paper and a little of the shine.
I have also been working on some scrapbook pages so maybe I will have them done in a week or so to share but right now I can smell the whole chicken I put in the crockpot this morning to roast all day. It is really smelling delicious so I think it is time to take it out.

Hope you all are enjoying long summer days!

I'm Back!!!

Hello my fellow bloggers and crafty friends! Thanks for sticking with me.  It has been such a long time since my last post but I am out of hibernation and ready to share some new cards I have been working on this week.

First up are these two cards:
I based these cards off of this Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #220 :

I needed two thank you cards and both recipients favorite colors are pink and purple. The first card is pink and I stamped the white card base using Worn Lipstick DI and HA Envelope Pattern stamp.

For both cards I cut a 2 1/2" strip of pattern paper and die cut a circle just below the top of the strip and adhered it to the card base with foam dots. I die cut the butterfly from pattern paper and wrapped black floss around the body and tied a knot at the top to make the head and antennas then adhered the butterfly with foam dots to the center of the circle.
I think I might add a dot of glue to hold the antennas in place. They tend to get stuck under the wings sometimes.
I die cut the banner then stamped the thank you sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. After rummaging around in my bling drawer I found these pink metal flowers with holes in the center which I filled with a pearl dot and adhered them to each end of the banner. I glued the banner towards the bottom of the pattern paper strip and was done.

I liked the sketch so much that I made a second card with it:
This  is has both purple and pink. I stamped the Envelope Pattern in Shabby Shutters DI and the butterfly is purple.
I made the same banner except I used some glittery pink flowers with a rhinestone in the center. I think I still have time to enter the Sweet Sunday challenge. It has been months since I have entered any challenges so it will be fun getting back in the groove of things.
I found this card by Joyce over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:
I loved that it was only one layer and thought it made a very nice sympathy card and reminded me that I need to start  replenishing my sympathy card stash.

Here is how my card turned out:
The stamp I used was from an old Rubber Stampede called Palm Leaf (I don't even know if they are around any more). I have used this stamp  several times over the years.
I used Shabby Shutters and Mowed Lawn DI for the leaves. On some of the leaves I used both colors, inking the stamp first with the lighter Shabby Shutters than inking over that with the Mowed Lawn. The rest of the leaves are stamped using just the Mowed Lawn. All I had left to do after the palm leaves was to stamp the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and add the butterfly. Such a simple card but I love how it looks.

I have so much to share from our winter travels I just need to get on the ball and do it. But right now the weather is super nice and I need to attend to my poor neglected flower gardens. They look so shaggy.

I'll be back soon I promise!

With Sympathy

 Hello and happy Hump Day!
I unfortunately had to use a sympathy card last week and it was the only one in my stash so I thought to myself I need to replace it because you just never know when you will need one.
So here is the card I made:
Here is the sketch I used from Mojo Monday Sketch#298
For the focal image I used Hero Arts clear stamps and stamped the floral image with Versamark Watermark ink then embossed with white embossing powder on sticky back canvas. The sentiment is stamped with Tuxedo black Memento ink. I then backed the canvas with black cardstock and ran it through the Cuttlebug in the Swiss Dot embossing folder and adhered it to the card with pop up dots.
The ribbon is Papertrey Ink and I thought it looked a little bare so added the leaves. Not sure it that was the right thing to do but its done.
The black scalloped strip is a scrap and I liked it because it is lined and looked better than a plain black strip. The banners or flags (some people call them flags, I call them banners) were cut with Papertrey Ink dies. This is the first time I have used the dies ( I have the matching stamp set which I used on the scarpbook page here). I love how they come in two sizes so I could back the smaller banners with black cardstock.
Well that's it for today's card!
Have a wonderful evening.
