'Tis The Season

Just a quick post on this rainy day.
This is my first Christmas card for the season thanks to the new Christmas challenge over at 'Tis The Season
Here is their very first sketch!

I did a lot of inking of all the edges with Vintage Photo, Antique Linen and Fired Brick Distress Inks.
Snowflake stamps and die are Papertrey Ink, Peace Be Still set.
I added a few gemstones to the bottom flake and I used lace ribbon.
If you are looking for some Christmas inspiration stop by 'Tis The Season and see what their DT has for inspiration.

Hope all my blog friends are having a great week! I have been cooking comfort food this week. Things like pumpkin pie, Chicken Pot Pie and tonight I'm making an apple pie. It's just that time of year.

Christmas & Birthday cards

Here are just a couple more cards that I made to send to the troops.

Both these card designs were made from previous Freshly Made Sketches:
 FLT123
FLT116
My favorite sketch is FLT123 I made several different cards using that sketch. It was such a fun and easy sketch to use.

I love the ornaments on this card. I stamped them first on the white cardstock with black ink and embossed using black sparkle embossing powder then I stamped them again on white cardstock and colored the ornaments with distress markers then cut them out and glued them over the other embossed ornaments. I like how it gives more dimension to the ornaments and you can actually see the sparkle from the embossing powder in the photo. It is so hard sometimes to capture that in photos but I guess the lighting was just right at the time I took the photos.

Thanks for visiting my humble little blog and have a great weekend!

A Merry Monday

As I was looking at some of my favorite blogs I came across this sketch challenge on Lisa's blog, Snowy Moose Creations:
Even though I was too late to enter the Merry Monday Challenge I thought it was a great sketch to make a Christmas card for the troops.
Here is the fun card I came up with using this sketch:

I used a  snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder on the card base and Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut out the pattern paper and white cardstock.
The ribbon is from Papertrey Ink and the snowman image and snowflakes are from Stephanie Barnards Stamps of Life. The senitment is also from Papertrey Ink. On the snowman I used VersaMark watermark ink and used sparkel black embossing powder. The snowflakes were stamped with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and the sentiment was stamped using Memento Tuxedo black ink.
I used kraft colored cardstock to help tie in with the pattern paper and inked the edges with Fired Brick distress ink.

Now I am off to make some more zucchini bread. Our neighbor was so kind to give us a couple of big zucchinis so I thought I would make them a loaf to thank them.

Merry Christmas and Ornaments Cards

I was busy last week coming up with card designs for our upcoming Card Workshop for the Troops. We will be making Christmas cards along with all occasion cards for this batch.
Here are a couple of cards that I have taken the time to photograph:

After embossing the white cardstock I used the Christmas distress inks that came out last year to color it. The colors are Festive Berries, Iced Spruce and Evergreen Bough. I then spritzed the embossed and inked cardstock with Perfect Pearls.
The stamps are Recollections Merry Christmas. I first inked the stamps with VersaMark Watermark ink then inked it in Iced Spruce and embossed it using clear embossing powder. Using the Watermark ink with the distress ink gives a crisper image if you don't want a distressed look.
I have a ton more cards to share just need to get them photographed and up on the blog. I should do it today as it is nice and sunny.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday with the family.

A Christmas Card and Sketch

Finally I have a card to share.
For this card I used sketch #210 from Clean and Simple Stamping

And here is my card:

This was such an easy sketch. I really love it! I pulled out some old Creative Memories pattern papers that I really like to use for winter cards. Then I matted the three pattern papers and the white solid onto white cardstock and used a snowflake border punch on the edges of the cardstock.
The snowflake die, stamp and sentiment are all from Papertrey Ink. I used Concord distress ink for the snowflake and Memento Tuxedo Black for the sentiment. And that is it. Super simple. I can see this sketch being used for all kinds of cards.
That's it for today. Just short and simple.
Thanks for stopping by!

Quick Christmas Card Inspiration

Just a quick post to get these cards up before Christmas. I know it's too late to make cards now but maybe they can be inspiration for next years cards.

I know it's sad I make cards but don't make my Christmas cards. I only have made cards once for Christmas. I did make five cards to send this year and here are the two designs I used. I think I got both ideas from Paper Crafts magazine if I remember right.

I used a dictionary page for the background, inked the edges with Peeled Paint distress ink, used red pen stitches around the edges of card, cut a trianlgle from pattern paper for tree, used silver pen for stitches around tree, round stickers for onaments and inked Sticky Back Canvas inked with Vintage Photo distress ink. I used several different stamps on cream cardstock for the sentiment and cut them out.

Here is the second design:

I love this card. First step I decided where I wanted the tree and used white embossing powder. Next I decided where I wanted the sentiment and where the snow was going to be and covered the rest with Glossy Accent dots for snowflakes. I let that dry for a few hours then I tore paper for the snow and held it in place as I inked the sky with Broken China distress ink.

I love how the glossy accent gives dimension to the flakes. I think you could also sprinkle with glitter before it dries.

Next I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

And to get the glittered edges I put 1/4" double sided tape along the edge of the card and sprinkled with Martha Stewart glitter. I forgot the name of the color of the glitter I used. Even my husband loved this card which is saying a lot as he usually just nods his head when I show him my latest creation. But this one he got a little excited over.

This will be my last post before Christmas so I want to wish everyone that stops by my humble blog the
Merriest Christmas Ever and a Happy New Year!

God Bless

Christmas card

I remembered I had a box of Christmas cards that we had bought a few years ago at the end of the season to use the for the following year but when I got them out to use the next year the embossed sentiment on the front had been printed upside down. At the time I didn't know what to do with them. I didn't want to throw them away so I stored them away until now.
Here is the altered card:

I had just bought the Holly Hero Arts background Stamp and the embossing folder that goes with it at the CK Convention in Nov. and thought it would match well with the holly design on the card. I love how easy it was to stamp and match it up with embossing folder.

I cut a piece of white paper to fit the gold embossed rectangle on the card and stamped it with the Hero Arts Holly background and Forest Moss Distress Ink. Then I put it in the embossing folder and ran it through the cuttlebug. I stamped the sentiment on white paper with black ink and cut around it and inked the edges with Fired Brick Distress Ink. I adhered the sentiment to middle of the embossed paper with pop up dots.

The original design was just the gold foil embossed with Merry Christmas.

I also used some red Smooch to color the berries on the sentiment.

Here are the embossing folder and the background cling stamp. I really love how easy it was to use them together.

So now we have 18 Christmas cards that we can now use to send to our friends and family instead of throwing them away.
Has anyone ever ran across cards printed upside down before? I worked for Hallmark Cards (the plant not a card shop) for 10 years and I don't know how a mistake like that could get through without someone catching it. At least it wasn't a Hallmark card.
