Finished Wall Decor

Finally finished the St. Patricks page. Decided to use stickers for the title and the Irish blessing. I used 2 shades of green stickers on the title using the dark green on the bottom to give it a false shadow.

I also have my Mother's Day cards done. Was inspired by someones blog this morning that had a card using similar colors and thought they were the perfect colors for Mother's Day. I decided that this would be a good time as any to make them. I have always loved the pattern paper that I used on the strip. As soon as I saw the colors green and pink I thought of this paper. It has a spring feel to me. I even added ribbon and a bit of bling. I was going to use glitter on the green brad that is the center of the flower but I came across the golden colored crystals as I was looking for green ones for the butterflies body. It fit so nicely on the brad.

Vote for Your Favorite Dress for Prom

Amber and I went to Seattle to the SeaTac Marriot. NAU (Northern Arizona University) was going to be giving a presentation at 7:00 PM. Amber is very interested in NAU and the more we here about it the more she likes it. Tonight was no different. She came away even more excited about the college. Plus she has a $28,000 scholarship from them. We have already been to Oregon State last month and we head to Kansas University later this month. We have plans to visit NAU in April. After that Amber will have to make her decision which college she feels will be the best fit for her.

We arrived at the Marriot at 3:30 so we had a late lunch at Denny's then decided to do a little prom dress shopping at the Southcenter Mall which ended up being only 10 min. from the hotel. Here at 2 of the 3 dresses she likes. Sorry the photos were just quick ones but you get the idea. I like them both but for different reasons. The black and white one is really formal and sophisticated but is really similar to the pink and white she wore last June. But that was another school's dance so I don't think that really matters. The orange and pink I think is better for her skin tone, is sparkly like her personality and she really wants to wear her pink shoes to the prom. Therefore she is wanting a dress with pink.

We are going back on Saturday with her friend, Mandy to shop around some more. If we don't find anything she likes better then we will get one of these 2 dresses. The Prom is April 24th so we do have time.

If you have a favorite dress please leave a comment on which one you like the best.

I did manage to get a photo of the tag I made for my St. Patty's day wall hanging but I had to put it in the window to get enough light. Anyway you can see what it looks like.

St. Patrick's Day

Just sharing a little some thing that I am working on. I'm sorry the photo isn't very good. The lighting is not good where I took the picture especially during the winter days. It does look better in real life. This project is what inspired me to get out my green pattern and solid paper scraps and punch shamrocks. I used the leftover shamrocks for the St. Patrick cards. I made a tag which hangs on the ribbon but haven't been able to photograph it yet because it has been too cloudy. I want to add an Irish blessing in the upper left but our printer just went out two days ago so that will have to wait. I like to use this frame from Creative Memories to hold some of my scrapbook layouts before putting them away in an album, to hold memorbilia or something decorative for the current holiday. Will post a picture of the finished project when it's done.

St. Patrick Cards

I have been in the mood to make cards and decided to make some St. Patrick Day cards.
I brought out all of my scraps of green pattern and solid cardstock scraps and punched out lots of shamrocks. The solid ones I ran through my emobssing machine to add a little texture. Next I brought out my white scraps and punched white squares which I put a shamrock in the middle then backed the white square onto gold paper again using scraps. I then used a scalloped square punch in a pattern paper to back the gold square. I then mounted the finished square onto a larger white cardstock and used a gold pen to so some "stitching" around it. Next I used a border punch on gold paper to create the border on the bottom of the white cardstock. The last step was to mount it onto green paper 1/4 inch smaller than the finished card.
I used scraps for every shamrock and punched square. It makes me happy to use up my scrap stash. Making cards is a great way to use your scraps.
